GVS - a family tradition since 1950
If GVS reminds you of down-home quality, there’s good reason. In 1950, Emma Good began operating a small variety store in the front room of her home in Lincoln, PA. She soon took to the road with her truck, developing a local peddling route called Store At Your Door. In 1963, Emma Good built Good’s Variety Store which her son-in-law, Mahlon Herr, later purchased.
In the 1990s, James Herr, Emma’s grandson, launched the retail and wholesale mail-order divisions alongside his father Mahlon’s operation. Today the wholesale and retail mail-order divisions as well as the local storefront all come under the umbrella of GVS Distributors in Versailles, MO.
